Description shifu1412 2021-06-15 04:14:09 UTC
Description:
On Windows 10, upon frequent use of the system's Sleep function, it eventually locked up and refused to unlock itself, necessitating powering down the PC and restarting it.

Upon return, LibreOffice was returned to a brand new state, with previous all settings undone, no option to recover the document that was being worked on, and nothing available within the recent documents list. Custom application colors were also deleted, and the tutorial tips were reenabled. No other issues with recovering data on other programs such as Firefox were found, only LibreOffice.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use the Sleep function on a Windows 10 device frequently with LibreOffice open with an unsaved document.
2. Bug will eventually happen where the lockscreen on Windows 10 refuses to load, necessitating reboot.
3. Attempt to restart LibreOffice.

Actual Results:
LibreOffice will reset to a default state, and all settings will be lost.

Expected Results:
The unsaved document would be recovered, and the custom settings and Recent Documents list would be unaffected.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Could you be more specific about the steps to reproduce the bug. The second step is not clearly described. which requires a reboot: the entire system or only Libreoffice.
And one more thing: how many times do you need to turn the sleep function on and off?

"which requires a reboot: the entire system or only Libreoffice."

It was a reboot of the entire system, my Windows 10 PC. After rebooting my entire PC, I attempted to restart LibreOffice and recover my files, but encountered the bug which had reset LibreOffice to a default state (as if just barely installed), and didn't allow for file recovery.

"how many times do you need to turn the sleep function on and off?"

This was over a three day period, and I unfortunately can not give you a precise number. I would guess that it would've been approximately twenty sleep functions since my computer goes into sleep mode when not used after 15 minutes.

what is the problem - you cannot restore docks or LO reset the settings to default?

Given the difficulty to reproduce the issue (depending on Windows refusing to unlock) and the lack of simpler steps, I think we have to close the report as "insufficient data".
However, if you encounter the issue again in a recent version of LibreOffice (updating preferably to 7.6) and can provide more information / more precise steps, please set the report back to "unconfirmed".
Thank you!
