Description Peter Toye 2021-06-16 10:50:13 UTC
Description:
I have two versions of LibO: 7.0 and 7.1. I updated them both to the latest versions. I did 7.0 first and that was OK. Then I updated 7.1 to 7.1.4.2 and the desktop shortcut icon for 7.0 disappeared. A second shortcut for 7.1 appeared.

Interestingly, the recent files that had been opened in 7.0 appear in the 7.1 opening window. This didn't happen before. It seems that bits of the 7.0 installation are leaking into 7.1.

Not a major problem, but something of a bug.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install LibO 7.0 and 7.1 into different directories and put shortcut icons on the desktop.
2.Update 7.0
3.Update 7.1

NOTE - the 7.1 version is 7.1.4.2 which isn't in the list!!!

Actual Results:
7.0 icon disappears and a second 7.1 icon appears.

Expected Results:
One 7.0 and one 7.1 icon.

Reproducible: Didn't try

I have just found that this isn't the major bug - I'm submitting a further bug report and will close this one.

Correct, it is not a bug as the MS Installer packaging is designed to remove the prior instance on upgrade installation. The Windows packaging does not support two "full" installations. Removal of the MSI placed desktop icon is expected on upgrade install.

Likewise your bug 182894 was resolved NAB, with instructions on having multiple instances of LibreOffice available to work with.
