I see this happening, file size goes from 400 kB to almost 6 mB for me. Very similar as old bug #65353 (although that's for ODF). The example file has the "Embed fonts in the file" Word option enabled and imported. It also has the
... Only embed characters used in the document (in order to save space) option enabled, which is NOT imported correctly. Writer has a similar option, but enabling it manually does not impact the file size upon saving. However disabling that in Word does increase the file size to ~6 mB upon saving. Also has the "Skip embedding of fonts used by the system" option enabled for which there is no similar option in Writer. But disabling that does not seem to have any impact on file size after saving in Word.
