this file demonstrate the not in centre placed bitmap

In the dialog of page style I can use (for area) any imported bitmap in custom position 'centre'. But the bitmap is not in centre if the margins of the page are not symmetrically.
The bug is, that the 'centre' ist the centre of margins, not of the page (or paper).

What for comments are still needed?

If you put an bitmap so great as the page (e.g. A4) in the default page style->area->bitmap->style:custom position/size + size: 21cm * 29,7cm + position: Centre, the picture is not centred in the page but in the margins!

There is no problem if the margins of the page are zero or symmetrically. But if this is not, than the bitmap fills not the quite area of the paper and a white asymmetrical hem is produced.

If I enable "Background covers margins", then the reference for the position is the entire paper size. If I disable that option, then the reference for the position is the page text area. I think, that behavior is correct.

The page text area is the paper size without margins. It is the area where you will see the grid when you enable it.

Your problem is not clear to me.

Sorry!
But in the LO version 7.0.6.2 (x64) (thats mine) this "Background covers margins" is not existing. I have discussed with Regina Henschel. Thats right. In the preliminary version this ""Background covers margins" is coming, of course.

Ok, let's close as worksforme then as you seem to be happy with the implemented feature of bug 122508
