The purpose of the SI is not to learn what attributes exists but what has been overwritten by a certain style. That means I disagree with the need for keeping Default open. But more generally it's desirable to keep a selection as long as possible. The tree is rebuild when a different style is focused resulting in a cleared view (that's also the technical reason why Default is collapsed).
