Description: Calc: Delete Tools>Options>LibreOffice Calc>Compatibility page There is only one otion there: key bindings LO vs OOo. Why it needs for anyone now? OOo is dead long time ago So I suggest delete that option page at all Steps to Reproduce: - Actual Results: We have unneeded option page for Calc key bindings selecting where can choose between LO and OOo (that is dead) Expected Results: We don't have unneeded option page for Calc key bindings selecting where can choose between LO and OOo (that is dead) Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: -
I second this request. Eike, any concerns?
Yes, I have concerns. Even if it may be that OOo is dead, a) there are still users beating that dead horse, so if they wish to ride a fresh one.. but more importantly, b) there are current users of LO who prefer the compatibility behaviour, for detailed differences see https://help.libreoffice.org/7.2/en-US/text/shared/optionen/01060800.html
(In reply to Eike Rathke from comment #2) > ...there are still users beating that dead horse How about turning this into an expert option?

Another idea to reduce the number of configuration tabs: move the Key Bindings setting to the Defaults tab which has two settings and plenty of screen free estate. Also... I know you are bored with my obsession, but how about keeping this setting and reinvigorate it by creating a new binding set called "MSO"? For "rare" cases like my old bug 116788 and maybe a few similar others. There might be some OOo users around who like this keybinding set, but the real millions of potential users are on Excel, and learning new key combinations for no better reason than "It's different here" is not helping them. Cheers Gabor

Sounds also good, and even easier to do. But the point of Excel keybinding shows how weird this option is. We have bug 123768 requesting this with the idea to put it into templates.

We discussed the topic in the design meeting. The option is pointless and confusing, has a negative impact on usability, and makes false expectations to switch the full shortcut customization. Hiding as far as possible from users is best (expert option). But if this involves more effort than moving it to the General tab the alternative solution is an improvement too.
I mark Lowest because in the end I don't see enhancement here, just an unnecessary change that will affect eventual users.
Since 24.2 and the fix for bug 156611, we have a "Hyperlinks" option in there. Close as "won't fix"?
Two options make no tab. Hyperlink (whatever this means regarding compatibility) could go to Load/Save or one of the other Calc-related tabs.

Well, if bug 123768 for extension based shortcuts/accelerators ever lands we'll need some place to expose options in each of the modules. Seems like a Compatibility tab, but for each module, would continue to be the appropriate location. Also as a potential enhancement, recent dustup over mass shortcut changes for bug 159743 suggest users would still be well served with a Compatibility tab when "localization" efforts cause disruption to be able to conveniently adopt behavior of a different locale. In other words, a lot could be done with the Compatibility tab. -1 to delete it out of hand.
