Description: A way stop animating gifs on a slide from animating in EDIT mode Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the attached file 2. Animating GIF stops after few seconds 3. Move the sheet 2, and back -> starts animating again Closely connected to bug 143201 (requesting a way to identify animating gif stuff) Actual Results: Well animating stuff is nice to have in the presentation as such. But well I also assume that's this can be rather annoying while building a slides. (aside from perf issues.. dragging rendering stuff around) Expected Results: So an global option to toggle on/off gif animations? Maybe with the exception that new inserted gifs animate once? Not sure if there is demand.. only a thought passing by.. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 7.3.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: c38d0d501f5eca648bdf0fd2914b57e06f505f7e CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3 Build 9600; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: nl-NL (nl_NL); UI: en-US Calc: CL

Only a thought.. but have seen enough presentations with lots of animations.. and doubt if those are really needed to be running constantly when editing.
Hi, I dunno if this is what you're looking for. But there is a way to completely stop animations while in the edit mode. Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> Accessibility -> Uncheck "Allow animating images" With this, the gifs don't get animated while in edit mode, but will during presentation. Hope this was what you were searching for. I don't think there's an option to have the gif play at least once. I might be wrong as well. I'm still exploring LibreOffice. :)
Issue solved, Telesto?

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #4) > Issue solved, Telesto? Well the feature is already present (which I didn't know); another story is exposing the existence :P. I'm was more thinking about easy 'toggle' in the toolbar/ tabbed bar My intension was to have an option to quickly turn it on/off temporarily (while composingslides ). Tools options is pretty permanent (and surely easy to forget). Aside from the part of being framed in the context of "Accessibility". Which isn't the context why I intended to use it. At I associate this more in context of say epilepsy But well putting it in the toolbar (or menu) obviously a discussion point. I think it might be a helpful feature, but you can say its bloating the interface Adding it to the customization area would be a help too.. (Tools -> Customize)

We discussed this and the other topic in the design meeting. For bug 143201, the place to stop animation is in fact not so easy to find. Since an animated gif may contain unwanted material it could be a security/safety issue when the animation is not shown. Browsers do usually provide more fine-grained settings with "Show always, Show once, Toggle animation per click, Always hide". The best place for this option is probably under View, with default "toggle per click". For the feedback we should do the same as video players and show a large gray "play" triangle overlay in the middle of the image, if paused. I would keep the two issues together. It's an enhancement, which typically has several facets.
