Description dr.silviaclamor 2021-07-15 10:22:14 UTC
Description:
I am using LibreOffice Writer to proofread an already written text. If I have a sentence to change, for example I want to delete something and write something else, I place the pointer on the text I want to delete, I delete it, then I press the space bar, but the pointer remains next to the last word and it adds more spaces next to the following word. See an example:

ORIGINAL TEXT "center and tonifies the heart... "
MY ACTION: I have deleted the ending "er" of center and replaced it with "re", then I give space
RESULTING SENTENCE: "centreand tonifies the heart"

If the pointer is next to "centre" and I press the space bar, the pointer remains still and moves forward the following words.

I hope I was clear enough and you can fix this, because it doubles the proofreading, as I also have to correct the system's mistakes.
Thanks

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Original text that I want to edit: "center or tonifies the heart... "
2. I have deleted the ending "er" of the word "center" and replaced it with "re" and the word "or" to replace it with "and", then I press the space bar
3. Resulting sentence, after my change: "centreand tonifies the heart" --> the pointer remains next to the previous word, even if I press the space bar. It moves forward the following words.

Actual Results:
3. Resulting sentence, after my change: "centreand tonifies the heart" --> the pointer remains next to the previous word, even if I press the space bar. It moves forward the following words.

I have to manually go back, press the space bar again to split the words "centre and" and then move forward and delete the spaces.

Expected Results:
I'd like to press the space bar and get the pointer to move forward, so that I can write and have two separate words.

Reproducible: Always

Can you post the version information for the version you are using? You can capture it from Help->About LibreOffice, and then in the dialog box you should see "Version Information" with a button next to it. Pressing the button will copy it to your clipboard. It will look similar to this:

Version: 7.1.3.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 47f78053abe362b9384784d31a6e56f8511eb1c1
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

FWIW, I wasn't able to reproduce the problem in the above version.

I have set the bug's status to NEEDINFO, once you have the added the version info, please change it back to UNCONFIRMED. Thank you.

Try unchecking Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View - Use Skia for all rendering
