Description Ken W. 2021-07-24 19:39:27 UTC
Description:
I recently updated to LO 7.1.5.2 and discovered I could not Save the document I edited. I've encountered similar problems with other recent updates. My solution? I reverted to LO 6.4.7.2. I keep a copy of that DMG for "just in case". The older version of LO works just fine.I think I will remain with the old version from here on out. BTW, I'm using OS 10.15.7 with a Late 2012 Mac Mini.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a previously created document
2.Edit/cange text
3.Attempt to "Save As"
4. Result: new document not saved and spinning POD (Pizza Wheel of Death) appears for about 10 seconds then disappears.

Actual Results:
Cannot create a new saved document. LO continues to operate properly after POD disappears.

Expected Results:
No edited document is saved.

Reproducible: Always

Did you provide "Full Disk Access" to LibreOffice.app. See answers regarding this problem on ask.libreoffice.org. e.g. https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/248186/unable-to-save-or-save-as-any-document-even-in-safe-mode/

Please test with a clean profile, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode

Am not convinced that this is NOTABUG.

The LO application bundle should either come with the required permissions on installation, or else it should bring up a dialog for the user, per Apple's security guidelines, asking whether the user specifically grants access to those folders:

https://support.apple.com/fr-fr/guide/security/secddd1d86a6/web

The answer given by the Ask link is a workaround.

LibreOffice doesn't correctly implement Apple's security access policy - that's a bug IMHO.

Apple's security policy also indicates that apps should re-affirm disk access to previously configured folders. LibreOffice doesn't do this for all of the folders which it attempts to access.

Confirming.
