Description Kai Schaeffer 2021-08-08 12:32:01 UTC
Description:
I have a lot of documents created mostly with OpenOffice which uses "Neue Helvetica" as a font. When I open these documents in LibreOffice the line spacing is too small (in OpenOffice it's fine). Fun fact: when I create a new plain document with LibreOffice and start using this font, all is fine.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just open the attached file "HelveticaNeuNotOK.odt"

Actual Results:
The line spacing in this file is too small.

Expected Results:
The line spacing should look like in the file "HelveticaNeuOK.odt"

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
I estimated the Version. It's a problem I have for many years now and prevented me from switching fully to LibreOffice so far (what is a pity). The last version I tested is 6.4.7.2.

There is probably also the font needed to see it. I am willing to give someone the font file. But since there is a copyright on it I don't want to upload it as a public attachment.

Are you sure that LibreOffice see this font? If the font name is italicized in character formatting dialog or in the sidebar, that means that LibreOffice did not find this font and chose a replacement font as close as possible of the missing font. This replacement may explain why the line spacing is nor correct.

Status has been set to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested information has been provided.

Best regards. JBF

Fair question. But yes, I am pretty sure that LibreOffice sees the font. The name is not italicized anywhere and I can do this: if I select the text and choose another font everything looks normal. Then I can select the font back to HelveticaNeue and the line spacing is wrong again.

I attached a screenshot to give an impression of the problem.

Kai: I got a tip about a similar bug from the dev who fixed it: bug 148122
The fix is in a released version, 7.3.3, so you could test it.

the above was only for one particular font, reading this again I see that new documents are considered ok. So If new documents are good, then in the old document visiting "tools, options, writer, compatibility" and toggle "use OpenOffice.org 1.1 line spacing" off (to match what a new document will have) may give the results you want.
