Calc often freezes the X server when importing txt or csv files. This bug appears since 7.xx version: I can open one or two or three small txt files without any issue and then when opening one more, the import window freezes the X server and I have to restart X. This behavior never happened before with the 6.xx version for years.
Someone else must reproduce the issue to set up as new. Please test with a clean profile, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode
Hi! For the record I have on my computer several linux distribution in multiboot. I had Fedora 29 and Centos 8 already installed. I just installed Fedora 34 and opened Calc, without adding any additionnal module. So this is a fresh profile. What I have to do: - open a monthly sheet of statistics. - open for each day a text file of about 1 k so I select "open" then I select a range of about 10 text files each one 1k. The first one opens - I have to change one column for "US english", then click "OK". The open window closes for this file and another one opens for the next file, aso When the bug happens it is when the "open" window closes. It freezes the window manager and then I have to reload it and that restarts the session, losing all the job not saved.
Hi I moved to 7.2.2 release and I still have the same issue. I would add that this issue may come from a conflict between compiz window manager and the way Libo handle open/close of the windows. I finally add that thiese freezes absolutely never happen with other apps.
If you are able to do so, would you please create some sample files that demonstrate this behavior and do not contain any personal or sensitive information, then attach them to this bug report? That will assist us in trying to reproduce the issue.
I'll try to do that. I'm not sure that either compiz or Libo have time to write a log before freezing the X server. We will see.
[Automated Action] NeedInfo-To-Unconfirmed
Hi I couldn't get a crash log file. But I would add a precision: the bug happens always when closing a subwindows, for example, when the "print windows" in a opened document windows closes itself or in calc when an "import file" subwindows closes after selecting appropriate options. Cann't say more at this time.
Thanks for reporting this issue. Could you please paste the info from Help - about LibreOffice ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' once the information has been provided
so here we are: 1) Version: 7.2.3.1 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 1d5dee817bde88d78dbcc0d00f88492568e131d5 CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.3; UI render: default; VCL: x11 Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: fr-FR Calc: threaded 2) Same problem happen with Version : 6.4.5.1 Build ID : be964ce243d03404cfeed53d0487f5d6bd49c627 Threads CPU : 8; OS : Linux 5.3; UI Render : par défaut; VCL: x11; Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); Langue IHM : fr-FR Calc: threaded Once again, this issue is random, does not happen everytime, and never never with other apps I'll try to get a log from compiz
Hello, Thank you for filing the bug. Please send us a sample document, as this makes it easier for us to verify the bug. I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO', so please do change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' once you have attached a document. (Please note that the attachment will be public, remove any sensitive information before attaching it.) How can I eliminate confidential data from a sample document? https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FAQ#How_can_I_eliminate_confidential_data_from_a_sample_document.3F Thank you
Created attachment 177223 [details] sample text file Here a sample of a text file. We import them several at once, starting to line 4. To be honnest it may be a conflict issue between how these subwindows are closed by Libo and the Compiz windows manager. I never got any freeze with other windows managers like Xfwm aso. Thx
Can you attach a screenshot of the import window you are using to see the configuration? What should be field separator?

I have no issue with: Version: 7.3.0.1 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 840fe2f57ae5ad80d62bfa6e25550cb10ddabd1d CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 21390; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win Locale: es-ES (es_ES); UI: en-US Calc: CL BTW, you can select the column type to import minutes as numbers, or what usually I do, selecting English (UK) as language, so dates dd/mm/yyyy and dot as decimal separator.

Okay but 1) you use windows and I use linux 2) I told that in my opinion the issue may come from a conflict between calc-linux and Compiz windows manager 3) I already reported another bug for calc 7.3.01 not starting in several linux distribs and I had to downgrade to v 7.2.5.1 For the column type, of course I do it since beginning on OOo. Thanks
Since 7.3.1.1 version here: Version: 7.3.1.1 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 349cd3ad57dce98d6b54b76f8e9f456ac7d7edb7 CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.3; UI render: default; VCL: x11 Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: fr-FR Calc: threaded I don't any problème more.
