I think there is an issue with the Formatting clone tool. Steps to reproduce: 1) Write some normal text with many words. 2) Set background color to 3 words (a line of text) with a background yellow (evidenced) 3) Put the cursor on a WITHE normal text (not evidenced in yellow) 4) Press the infamous "Clone tool" , the cursor changes to a dropping pot 5) Left click over a YELLOW backgrounded text with the "dropping pot" cursor Nothing happens I expect that the YELLOW background color turns to WHITE background. But no.. It does nothing BUT !! If you do the (2) step over a YELLOW text and the (5) on a WHITE text (so you do the opposite) the text normally changes to YELLOW correctly ! So if you want to color a text you can do !! If you want to turn back the color to normal (white) you cannot.

You perform the wrong sequence of actions, to get the formatting cloned: - Put the cursor into the *formatted* text - Click the "Clone Tool" (icon) - Select (Paint) the text you want to adapt the formatting you cloned in previous step (keep left mouse button pressed) Ref: LibreOffice Help - Copying Formatting With the Clone Formatting Tool - https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/shared/guide/paintbrush.html?DbPAR=SHARED#bm_id380260 - see steps 1.,2. and 3. Not a bug.
