Description Konrad 2021-09-12 13:23:04 UTC
Description:
Issue: loss of function of a previous version of LibreOffice.
Pointing to: https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/121914

In versions of LO 6 and higher as tested (see below) it is not possible to select and edit, or copy and paste from collected words in the word completion list box at menu: Tools | Auto-correct | Auto-correct Options | Word Completion.

A functional practice in LO Writer version 5 has changed to non-functional in LO Writer versions 6 and higher:
	•	The copy function Command+a, Command+c (or right-mouseclick--copy) is unresponsive and does not work to select and copy an entire list from the word completion list box to the clipboard.
	•	The copy function Command+c (or right-mouseclick--copy) also is unresponsive and does not work to select and copy a single word from the word completion list box to the clipboard.
	•	Using Command+c to copy a selection from the word completion list box, the clipboard buffer is empty when attempting to paste (using Command+v) the selection into an existing or new file (e.g., LO_WrdCmpltn_Ver_ SomeNumber_A-Z.odt).

Steps to Reproduce:
Use menu: Tools | Auto-correct | Auto-correct Options | Word Completion -
1	Open existing working documents from which new words are to be collected and placed in the word completion list box.
2	Scroll through open existing working documents to collect words; close documents.
3	Using menu: Tools | Auto-correct | Auto-correct Options | Word Completion check the word completion list box for collected words.
4	In the word completion list box: use Command+a, Command+c (or right-mouseclick--copy) to copy the complete list to clipboard --> This function fails.
5	Paste the complete list from the clipboard into a new or existing master file, (e.g., LO_WrdCmpltn_Ver_ SomeNumber_A-Z.odt) --> This is not possible; copy function will not execute to put a word(s) into the clipboard buffer.

Actual Results:
Observed/actual behavior:
1	In versions of LO 6 and higher as tested (see below) it is not possible to select, copy and paste from collected words in the word completion list box at menu: Tools | Auto-correct | Auto-correct Options | Word Completion.
2	Using keystroke combination Command+a, Command+c (or right-mouseclick--copy) in the word completion list box are inoperative.
3	In the word completion list box -- only one word will highlight (can be selected) at a time.
4 it is not possible to select and copy any--one or more--words to the clipboard.

Issue applies to LO versions (build numbers in parentheses) tested as:
	•	Version: 6.3.0.4 (057fc023c990d676a43019934386b85b21a9ee99) on High Sierra 10.13.6 on a MacBook Pro mid-2010,

	•	Version: 6.4.4.2 (3d775be2011f3886db32dfd395a6a6d1ca2630ff) on Catalina 10.15.7 on a Mac Mini late-2012,
	•	Versions (all on Big Sur 11.5.2 on a Mac Mini 2018):
	⁃	6.4.5.2 (a726b36747cf2001e06b58ad5db1aa3a9a1872d6),

	⁃	7.1.5.2 (85f04e9f809797b8199d13c421bd8a2b025d52b5),
	⁃	7.2.0.2 (9a9c6381e3f7a62afc1329bd359cc48accb6435b),

	•	Version: 7.1.5.2 on Ubuntu Pkg 20.04.1 (build 1:7.1.5.2_rc2-0ubuntu0.20.04.1˜lo1) on a Lenovo x220. This was a totally clean, fresh OS install -- no extensions, no add-ons, no bells, no whistles.

Expected Results:
Expected behavior:
Use menu: Tools | Auto-correct | Auto-correct Options | Word Completion -
1	Open existing working documents from which new words are to be collected and placed in the word completion list box.
2	Scroll through open existing working documents to collect words; close documents.

I can't confirm it with

Version: 7.2.1.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 87b77fad49947c1441b67c559c339af8f3517e22
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: threaded

So perhaps only a MAC-issue?

Comment 3 QA Administrators 2023-09-29 03:18:40 UTC
Dear Konrad,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
