Linux LO packages from TDF website are more for repository distrib maintainers. Indeed, they deal with required dependencies. You may uninstall the deb packages and use LO ppa (see https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ubuntu/ppa) to give 7.2.1 a try.
Not sure what you mean by downloading from the TDF website. I downloaded from the official LO website www.libreoffice.org which announced that v7.2.1 is now available. This is where I always download from and do a clean install of the new version after removing the old version. I have not seen the authentication issue with any of the previous releases which is why I submitted the bug report stating that the version did not indicate that it was a release candidate.
www.libreoffice.org is TDF indeed. I don't reproduce this on pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today or with LO Debian package 7.2.1.2 so perhaps it's specific to Ubuntu ? That's why it could be interesting to uninstall your current version and give a try to LO ppa.
Following my previous comment, could you give a try with a recent LO version from ppa ? (see https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ubuntu/ppa)
