Created attachment 175442 [details] Tooltip problem in tables Version: 7.1.3.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 47f78053abe362b9384784d31a6e56f8511eb1c1 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); UI: en-GB Calc: threaded 1. Open the attached file and click inside the table. 2. Hover the mouse cursor across the lower half of the Table toolbar (bottom of screen) with the aim of causing the tooltips to appear over each icon in succession. EXPECTED RESULT: The tooltips appear. ACTUAL RESULT: No tooltips. In order to get tooltips to appear over an icon you need to hover the cursor RIGHT AT THE TOP of AN icon. A few similar issues have been reported (e.g. Bug 121361).
Perhaps unrelated, but when I open the file, I don't see any icons in the table at all. No tooltips appear no matter where I hover the mouse. I will attach a screenshot. This occurs in both: Version: 7.1.4.1 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: f67b1ddedeb24fca1c5938e7cebfab73d708b35b CPU threads: 12; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded and Version: 7.3.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 5dce56bcd43978c2fe4ace44f7571dd9a83e5533 CPU threads: 12; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: CL

(In reply to Michael Warner from comment #2) > Created attachment 175443 [details] > No icons screenshot Michael, he means icons on Table toolbar. Move a mouse cursor over the icons and you'll see tooltips no repro in Version: 7.3.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 559850da1f48fd7ea521c78a1867255212f7aee9 CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.16; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: osx Locale: ru-RU (ru_RU.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded possibly GTK3 only?

Created attachment 181497 [details] zip file containing screenshots of tooltips issue Version: 7.4.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 465c3ad95059f0efa13c8027f7383c4d20a5b2ff CPU threads: 2; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded I can confirm the same issue exists in this build. Specifically, the tooltip ONLY appears when the arrow tip of the cursor is in the TOP HALF of the icon. This is illustrated by the attached screenshots.
The same issue affects the toolbar for lists (and possibly other toolbars which appear at the bottom of the Writer window?). I have tries mouseing over icons in other contexts, both in Writer and Draw, and in these cases the tooltip appears WHATEVER part of the icon you mouse over. So, IME, the original report still stands.
I don't reproduce this. Bug 121361 talked about a GTK bug that was fixed years ago: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/1371 R. Green: which version of GTK do you have? What is your gtk-cursor-theme-size value in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini Arch Linux 64-bit, X11 Version: 7.4.4.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 40(Build:2) CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.1; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: fi-FI (fi_FI.UTF-8); UI: en-US 7.4.4-1 Calc: threaded Set to NEEDINFO. Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.
The problem is now resolved. Tooltips are appearing as expected on all parts of the icons. Just for the record: > R.
