Description John 2021-10-13 15:23:07 UTC
Description:
Using the mouse to "draw" just the selection box in Draw is very laggy. No combination of hardware acceleration on/off, OpenCL, Skia, etc seems to improve it.

Steps to Reproduce:
Open new empty drawing. Create selection rectangle with mouse.

Actual Results:
The selection blue/dashed selection box updates very laggy when moving it with the mouse button down.

Expected Results:
It should be super smooth and no lagging.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

1. Start LibreOffice
2 select Help ▸ Restart in Safe Mode
3. In the Enter Safe Mode dialog select Restart. LibreOffice will restart and display the Safe Mode dialog
4. Select Continue in Safe Mode
5. Test and see if the problem is gone.

If the problem persists, you can exit the safe mode because the user profile was not the cause of the problem.

If the problem is solved, something is wrong with your configuration. Start LibreOffice in safe mode again to see the safe mode dialog. You can now try to disable Hardware acceleration or to restore/reset your user profile.

Yes I have tried safe mode, it does not help. The laggy selection rectangle has been like that since version 6.1 or something.

This issue is also happening to me. I don't have hardware acceleration as an option on my computer because of the hardware installed on my computer. Safe mode fixes this issue so I've reset the user settings which did not fix this issue.

You mention that Safe Mode fixes it and in your version information we see Skia/Vulkan, so can you check, if deactivating this option fixes it: Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View - Use Skia for all rendering ?

The case of the original reporter is different as Safe Mode did not have any effect and neither did Skia.
