Bug Creating Master Document

Attached video shows exactly what happens.
Also attaching the template used.
First occurred on 7.2.1.2, then upgraded to 7.2.2.2 and still occurs
macOS 10.14.6 (18G9323)
Comment 1 Jon R Kibler 2021-10-16 11:13:29 UTC
Steps:
In startcenter, click on Templates & choose a template.
Once document is created, send it to a master document.
LO refuses to save the master document.
Even if you add text to the template and save it is a regular doc first, sending it to a master doc refuses to save it.

Movie shows the minimum steps to create the failure.

Attached is the template used.

Attempted to attach template used, but bugzilla won't accept it, even as a zip

Sharing zip of template from my ProtonDrive account.

I tried replying to the email requesting additional information, but bugzilla said I wasn't an authorized participant to this thread. So, here is what I tried to email:

Hi,

LO definitely has full access to the mac. The login used to document the bug owns the data directory's root file system and its entire directory hierarchy, and the LO installation is owned by that user, too.

Additionally, I have other users on this mac and it fails similarly for all users.

Finally, I create a master document successfully by:
File-->New-->Master Document
Styles-->Load Styles From Template
Save

And it works using the same template and saves to the same directory as I used in the bug example. That is my workaround, which adds an additional step. But, it still would be best if the actual bug was fixed.

Question: Why don't I get a crash dump when LO crashes? What can I do to enable one? I don't even see a place in Advanced settings (but could have missed it). Thanks!

Please let me know if I can supply any additional information.

Note: I suspect that bugs 145167 https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145167 and 145168 https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145168 are related.

Comment on previous post about reproducibility... I forgot that after creating a new master document, you have to save it before applying a template, else it may randomly crash.

Comment 8 Jon R Kibler 2021-11-29 15:45:34 UTC
I have found that this bug is caused by the Mac OS Extended Journaled File System. I have several other crashes apparently caused by the same or related problems.

These bugs have been consolidated into bug 145950.

Please let me know if you require additional information.
