Description: When I create a footnote or a table, Writer automatically applies "Footnote" and "Table Contents" paragraph styles to them. But when I create a list, Writer doesn't apply "List 1" style to it. This looks different (= inconsistent) with how it deals with footnotes and tables. So, when I create a list, Writer should use the "List 1" paragraph style it. That's it. Please do not. Lists are not paragraph styles; they may be applied to many different paragraph styles. Linking lists to paragraph styles is just one possible way of using them; trying to enforce this workflow on everyone would be wrong. Using these two concepts (paragraph styles and list styles) separate provides greater flexibility.
OK, thanks, it seems I see your point. For example: You have a document where the main font is Liberation Serif, but the font that is used for the Table Contents style is Liberation Sans. You create a new table and then Writer apply the Table Contents style to its cells. And then you create a list in one of the cells of that table. In this case, the list will use Liberation Sans and this is exactly what you most probably want. Contrary, if newly created lists will utilize List 1 paragraph style, the newly created list in table cell will use Liberation Serif. And this is not what you probably want. ---- Please correct me if I misunderstood you.
(In reply to John from comment #2) Yes, and in general any other combination of applying a list (style) to selected paragraphs having my preferred paragraph styles.
