Description Joshua Coppersmith 2021-11-13 17:41:50 UTC
Description:
When editing in the edit line (formula bar) and an auto-save occurs the insertion caret ('|') disappears completely or moves to in-cell editing instead of showing in the edit line. Keyboard arrows still manipulate caret as expected, but this is awkward when no cursor appears in either location. Unfortunately, at one minute minimum per test (auto-save frequency) I cannot speak to when the caret fails to show in either location, only that it seems to have not shown at all once when the insertion point was in a reference, like '$C|9'.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Make a change so that the workbook is 'dirty'
2.Start to edit a cell via the edit line
3.Wait for an auto-save. When auto-save completes, the caret will have disappeared or moved to in-cell editing

Actual Results:
No caret is visible, or caret has moved to in-cell editing

Expected Results:
Caret should return to exact location in the edit line where it was before the auto-save occurred

Reproducible: Always

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Tried with a reference like you described, but the cursor does not disappear. Do you still reproduce this with 7.4?

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.

Originally this was reported on Linux, but I guess we can close.
