Description Bug Reports 2021-12-01 20:23:09 UTC
Description:
When you work with large font sizes and change the font it might delete your text.
this is reproducable.

This might look like an edge case, but for me this is a blocker as I need this for a very specific styled formula.

This is for LibreOffice 7.2.3.2, but this version is not available in the dropdown of bugzilla.

Steps to Reproduce:
IMPORTANT: This is for Version 7.2.3.2, but this is not available in the version-dropdown of this form.

Please be very accurate when following these steps. the slightest change will not let you reproduce the issue.

1. Open a new Libre Office Writer Document. - Preselected Font is "Liberation Serif".
2. Click into Font Size and select everythin ("12 pt") with your mouse.
3. Type "360" and confirm with "Enter"-Key of your keyboard.
4. Click on the page and write "TEST".
5. Hold "Shift"-Key of your keyboard and press "Left Arrow"-Key three times to select "EST".
6. Click into the Font dropdown, scroll to "Arial" and select it with a left-clik of your mouse.

Actual Results:
"T" is still written, but "EST" gets deleted.

Expected Results:
"T" is still written in Liberation Serif AND "EST" is still written in Arial.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
- LibreOffice Version 7.2.3.2
- It is a fresh installation of Libre Office on Windows 11. And I can reproduce it on Windows 10 on another machine. Therefore I did not reset my userprofile.

Hi Rainer,

thanks for trying to reproduce this. While I was able to reproduce it yesterday multiple times, today the problem got even bigger: Once I have changed Font Size, the cursor disappears and I am not able to write ANYTHING. I am not even able to paste something.

To be certain the reported issue is not related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your Libreoffice profile (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile) and re-test?

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present.

Hi,

here is what I did
- Update to LO 7.2.4.1
- delete User folder
- Start LO

(Second) Problem still exists.
1) Start LO
2) Change Font to 360 and confirm by pressing Enter

Actual Result: I am not able to enter ANY text. If I click on the sheet, the cursor is not places there.

Expected Result: I click on the sheet, cursor is placed and starts blinking. I am able to enter text.
Comment 7 Dieter 2021-12-23 15:10:02 UTC
I confirm it with

Version: 7.2.4.1 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 27d75539669ac387bb498e35313b970b7fe9c4f9
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL

and

Version: 7.4.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: deea3b7471c3dab0220eca6146c225a2d47681a2
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL

Steps to reproduce
1. Open new document
2. Place cursor in font size combobox and type 360

Actual result
a) You're not able to type any text
b) Changing font size in combobox doesn't solve the problem

3. Close and reopen writer
4. Type 80 in Combobox and press enter
5. Type 360 in combobox and presse enter => That works

Confirmed in latest master on Windows 11.

Here is what happens:

1. Start LO
2. Launch Writer
3. Select contents of font size box and type "360"
4. Observe no cursor blinking anywhere
5. Select File->New->Text Document
6. In new window, observe no cursor is available and changing text sizes results in corrupted text being displayed

Here is my build:

Version: 7.5.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 4d42aeae86253e167facb1adfddd0c9976b7801a
CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22000; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL
