Description BDF 2021-12-02 11:48:54 UTC
Description:
If you want to change the user interface every but one style of user interface brings you directly to the popup window to change the UI. That one style that goes it's own "blackjack and hookers" way is the grouped compact style (second last on the list) that only gives you a drop down menu.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Change from any UI style to grouped compact
2. Close the popup window to change the UI
3. Change the UI again to any other style ("menu" button on the right side)

Actual Results:
The menu only shows you a drop down list and does not open the default popup window to change the UI

Expected Results:
Since every other UI style brings you directly to the popup page it would make much more sense if every style would do that. In my opinion this is also a better approach since the popup window gives you a short explanation and a small preview image of the UI.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I did not test this on the latest version of LO, because it's not a bug and I expect it to be the exact same.

Confirmed. The in the GroupedBar Compact NB the Menu does not show the new dialog picker (bug 117463) dialog, and only shows the old menu pop-up.

Agree the full picker dialog UI would be best here as well.

Cannot confirm, please retest with a clean user profile (Help > Restart in Safe Mode: Continue in Safe Mode).

This change was made for bug 144227 in patch https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/121417. And I see it has been resolved for 7.3 only.

@Heiko, sorry I missed the dupe and verify fixed for 7.3 and master against 7.4

But why no backport to 7.2 at the time [1]? Maybe worth doing one since it is a pretty obvious omission in providing the UI picker and we will have 7.2 builds for another 5 months.
