Description krumple_sodium 2021-12-02 23:47:10 UTC
Description:
I am running Kubuntu 20.04 + LibreOffice 7.2.3 that I installed myself on Kubuntu.

It looks like this effects a few version of LibreOffice Writer: 7.2.1, 7.2.2, 7.2.3.
If I click on the COMBOBOX for changing the font, the list drops and disappears immediately.
I only see a quick flash of the list.
If I click to drop the list again, it opens and I can select a font.
Now, I can’t write because there is no caret in the client area of LibreOffice Writer.
Typing does nothing.
I would have to do Alt-Tab and return to Write and the caret shows up /or/ I have to click on File or one of the other menus, close the menu, and the caret shows up.

The same thing happens with the font size combobox.
LibreOffice Writer 7.2.0 is working fine.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on the font COMBOBOX with your mouse to drop the list.
The list drops and disappears immediately.
I only see a quick flash of the list.
2. Click again and the list is now visible.

Actual Results:
After you do the part mentioned in Steps to Reproduce, there is no more caret in the client area. Typing does nothing.

Expected Results:
It's obvious.

Reproducible: Always

I installed on openSUSE Leap v15.3. The DE is KDE.
First, I uninstalled the LibreOffice v7.1.4.2 that comes with openSUSE.
I decompressed LibreOffice_7.2.3_Linux_x86-64_rpm.tar.gz to my HDD.
I opened the console and went into the RPMS folder

I executed
sudo rpm -i *.rpm

It successfully installed. I see LibreOffice in the OS’s menu, under “Office”.

CONCLUSION:
It’s the same problem as I described for the case of Kubuntu 20.04.

Thank you for reporting the bug. To be certain the reported issue is not related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your Libreoffice profile (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile) and re-test?

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present.

I followed the steps at
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile
and I tested on Kubuntu 20.04 only.
I tested with LibreOffice 7.2.4 which is the latest public version right now.
The problem is still present.
The caret just disappears.

I will set this ticket to UNCONFIRMED.

It's me again, krumple_sodium.

I tested with LibreOffice 7.3.0.3 on Kubuntu 20.04.
Looks like this bug is fixed.
