Installed Comic Sans MS font working in Text Editor

Fonts installed in the OS cannot be selected or used in LibreOffice Writer, Calc, or Impress but work on other apps.
- It works on Writer, Calc v6 on Ubuntu 16.04
- It fails on Writer, Calc, and Impress v7 on Ubuntu 18.04
- Ubuntu 18.04 did font cache refresh, fc-cache -fv
- Used Fonts (viewer) 3.28.0, all fonts display
- Fonts can be selected and used with gedit 3.28.1, see attached screenshot
- Fonts needed and installed are Comic Sans MS (easy for children to read) and Radios in Motion (Morse code for documentation) both TrueTypeFont

Similar issue - Have EB Garamond installed as writing a book. Big book, lots of chapters. Sometimes when opening a chapter the font has been lost, still shows as selected in the style sheet but when try and apply says the font is not installed

The issue appeared after upgrade to Kernel: 5.4.0-91-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 9.3.0 Desktop: Xfce 4.14.2 tk: Gtk 3.24.13 wm: xfwm4 dm: LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 20.1 Ulyssa base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal

With Libre Office Version: 6.4.7.2
Build ID: 1:6.4.7-0ubuntu0.20.04.2
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-GB
Calc: threaded

Currently having to copy text to another chapter where the font is still working, then split back into two chapters and reformat everything - Tedious.

Once lost the font seem irrecoverable in a particular document.

I use Mint 19 based on Ubuntu 18.04 and with LO 7.2 I see no problem for Comic Sans MS.
LO 7.2 doesn't come on that Ubuntu, so you probably installed it somehow, from deb or PPA.
This bug makes no sense because not reproducible.
You can either solve it yourself or try to get help at LO or Ubuntu forum.
UnNtil then, I set Needinfo.

I gave up on a fix and reverted to V6.4.7.2. It works on this version.

Thanks for the follow-up. But using old LO 6.4 is not the real solution.
If still in older Ubuntu, you may add LO Still PPA.
I also tested in Ubuntu 22.04 and Comic Sans MS font can be used.
I can only close this.
If you try with some other OS or upgrade or reinstall newer LO, please write.
You may also check permissions for that font or copy to ~/.fonts or install with msttcorefonts.
