New US English installation of 7.2.4.1. Windows 10 laptop which has Microsoft Word/Office 2019 client version installed. After installation, right clicking in document folder and selecting New" no longer provides option for new Word document. No option for LibreOffice Writer document either. Only "New" options now (with no way to add more new file types) are: Folder Shortcut Bitmap image OpenDocument Drawing OpenDocument Presentation OpenDocument Spreadsheet OpenDocument Text Text Document Compressed(zipped)Folder

No option for LibreOffice > Writer document either. Have you associated MS Office file types with LibreOffice maybe? Windows' Shell "New" function relies upon related extension entry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT has a subkey with a name that matched the key's default value, which depends on the association ...
Created attachment 177066 [details] Screen shot: right click-->New Stuart, Attached is screen shot of what I get for right click-->New. No option for Word .docx During the install, I did uncheck the Microsoft Office/Word option under custom install as I didn't want those to switch to Libre Office. It had been checked as default but I unchecked it for the installation. But then I discovered several Microsoft Word file extensions had in fact been switched to LibreOffice I manually changed these them back to Word. If the right click--> New is dependent on file extension, .docx should have stayed there. Sorry I didn't write down each file extension I changed. So the problem must be related to my having unchecked that option to preserve Word associations but that didn't completely stop the switching those associations to Libre Office. I knew this was a beta implementation but didn't expect to be participating in bug reporting. When I discovered the "right click--> New" issue I decided it was something I should report. Solveig
Created attachment 177202 [details] Fix for lost right-click->New choices =MS Office QuickRepair Update on the installation bug that damages the right-click-->New options on Microsoft Windows 10 laptop that has Microsoft Office installed. Windows, MS Office Quick Repair procedure reset the registry items necessary to return the right-click-> New options to what they were before installation of LibreOffice. Unfortunately this also removed the options for OpenDocument file formats.
please follow the instructions mentioned in the comment -> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146337#c6 hopefully that should resolve the issue that is seen with the right click. Hello, Thank you for reporting the bug. Can you please confirm if the issue still exists in the latest build? Could you please try to reproduce it with a master build from https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/ ? You can install it alongside the standard version. I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the master build.
FYI, I have received what appear to be two malicious/spoofed messages from this site (from bugzilla-daemon@bugs.documentfoundation.org), with URL links to purported "instructions" to follow. On signing in here, I do not see these folks having actually posted items in the bug report record that match these "instructions" emails. This should be a concern for you. System hijack? FYI The reported bug resolved itself at some point for reasons I don't know. I did not take any additional actions other than what I reported in other postings here. Here are the emails I received: ================================================================================ [Bug 146337] New install, Windows 10, right click on folder-->New,no options for MSOffice/ Word .docx Sat 12/3/2022 2:30 AM From: bugzilla-daemon@bugs.documentfoundation.org To: soverby@sover.net https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146337 sockseight@gmail.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEEDINFO --- Comment #7 from sockseight@gmail.com --- please follow the instructions mentioned in the comment -> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146337#c6 hopefully that should resolve the issue that is seen with the right click.
