Clicking on "Macro..." button will instantly close the program

Hello,

I am new to LibreOffice. I started to get Base to work fine with a small application with tables, queries, forms and a few macros. At some point after adding a new button I wanted to associate a macro with the "Perform action" event by clicking on the "Macro ..." button, but then the application closed instantly. Then this anomaly recurs each time making it impossible to use LibreOffice.

I have noticed that this also happens with Calc with a single button on a single sheet.

I then uninstalled and reinstalled LibreOffice but the problem persists and I absolutely cannot use LibreOffice anymore!

Thank you for your help

On Win10 with LO 7.2.4.1, I don't reproduce this.

Here what I did:
- created a brand new ods file
- Menu display/toolbars/form controls enabled
- created a brand new button
- right click on button
- control properties
- click on event tab
- click on "..." at right of "execute action"
- click "Macro..." button
=> no crash.

Was it an ods file or xls/xlsx?
Could you give a try at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps ?

After the first appearance of the problem and its constant reproduction (With Base or Calc), I uninstalled LibreOffice (Version 7.2.4.1) then I also manually deleted all the directories and files from: C: \ Users \ User \ AppData \ Roaming \ LibreOffice and those in C: \ Program Files \ LibreOffice. I also deleted the few ods and odb files that I had previously created in My Documents. Finally I cleaned my registry with CCleaner.
Then, after restarting my PC in which there was normally no trace of LibreOffice, I redownloaded and reinstalled LibreOffice (Always: Version 7.2.4.1).
Finally, I started Calc and followed this simple procedure (The one you remind me of):
- created a brand new ods file
- Menu display / toolbars / form controls enabled
- created a brand new button
- right click on button
- control properties
- click on event tab
- click on "..." at right of "execute action"
- click "Macro ..." button

=> Again LibreOffice closed instantly and without error message!

Thanks for your review. I just installed version 7.3.0.1 and unfortunately the problem is still there.
This last action made me think that the problem could be outside of LibreOffice. After a few tries I deactivated the software: "Malwarebytes Premium Trial 4.5.0" and ... LibreOffice works fine again. Phew!
To be sure that I correctly identified the source of the problem, I have reactivated / deactivated Malwarebytes several times and the problem always manifests itself when this application is active.

=> So it's clear, there is interference between the two applications.

Good job! I hadn't thought about problematic interaction with Malwarebytes.
Let's rather put WORKSFORME since there was no patch here to fix the problem.

Thanks especially to you and to zcrhonek for quickly responding to me.
