Description: Feature Request: multi-split a LibreOffice Writer document window (horizontal and vertical) with optional synchronized scrolling. This functionality is very useful for working on and comparing multiple sections of the same document really efficiently. It is a staple feature of programmer's text editors, yet almost unheard of in regular office suites or rich text editors. Look to Nisus Writer Pro (Mac) for inspiration; that RTF-based application allows multiple document window splits, horizontal and vertical, with or without synchronized scrolling. Steps to Reproduce: Looking through the menu's and the manual in hopes of finding window-splitting functionality. I have the very latest (beta) build of LibreOffice for Mac installed using the Homebrew Package Manager. Actual Results: The window splitting functionality is not present. Expected Results: I would have expected window splitting, even in it's most basic form (single horizontal split like MS Word), to be present in LibreOffice. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: LibreOffice Writers 'open new window' [with the same document] is not a replacement for the requested feature. Nisus Writer (Mac) already does what I describe, as do many plain text editors for programmers. MS Office allows only a single horizontal window split, besides the 'open new window' also present in LibreOffice Writer.
Don't see the immediate need for horizontal aligned views but vertically is clear, at least. Better to consolidate the requests, so making this a duplicate of the older ticket. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 31481 ***
