Created attachment 177552 [details] Original odt Writer Document to test hyperlink fail I create a simple odt document in Writer (same problem also affects a 'docx' format file), and insert a hyperlink behind some text in that document (hyperlink can be a 'mailto' or it can be to an external website-page URL). The hyperlink appears good in the Writer document. In PrintPreview, the hyperlink looks good (shown in particular font colour/underlined), but cannot be clicked to open the hyperlink. The file is then exported to PDF. The PDF document shows the hyperlink (same particular colour/underlined), but no hyperlink is active. Hovering cursor over the hyperlinked text produces no 'hand' icon, and clicking on it does nothing. Export settings: General Tab: General section: no options ticked (although I have experimented with various ones, but problem remains); Structure section: no options ticked. Links Tab: General section: no options ticked; Cross document links section: default mode selected. Security tab: With password and without (although earlier, it *may* have been only password-protected exports had the problem) LibreOffice 7.2.5.2 (problem was occurring on at least two prior release versions) macOS Monterey 12.1 (problem was occurring on earlier MacOS versions) PDF viewer: Apple 'Preview' or Adobe Acrobat Reader (same problem on each) I opened a new LibreOffice document, and copied/pasted the odt document's contents, then saved as docx format, then exported to PDF. The hyperlinks *were not* active in that PDF document. I opened a new 'Pages' text document, and copied/pasted the odt document's contents into it, then exported that Pages file to PDF. The hyperlinks *were* active in that PDF document. Conclusion: problem is for LibreOffice text document file types only. I could attach only one file to this bug report, so I chose the odt file, rather than any of the other editable files, or their corresponding PDF exported pdf file.
I can confirm for mailto hyperlink. URL works for me Version: 7.4.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 3e94991d7fd3a085549c3a5d4c991688042d2cb9 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.11; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: cs-CZ (cs_CZ.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Jumbo
Both PDF links work for me in: Version: 7.2.5.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 499f9727c189e6ef3471021d6132d4c694f357e5 CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: threaded and using Sumatra PDF 3.3.3. PDF links also work for me when: - I copied/pasted ODT into new document - Saved as DOCX - File > Export As > Export As PDF
I don't confirm, both links work for me in Windows and Linux GTK3. So not clear how some reproduce and some not. Reporter, please test that PDF in different viewers and attach it here.
Created attachment 177681 [details] PDF file, created from LibreOffice under MacOSX, with failed hyperlinks Attached PDF as requested
Tks, Timur. Since I started this bug, I've had opportunity to try an identical content 'docx' source file on a Win10 device, and the PDF was good. As originally reported, the problem occurs only under MacOSX, and not Windows, as also confirmed by other commenters on this bug. I changed the 'create a PDF' settings in the 'export as PDF' dialogue in LibreOffice on my Mac to match those in my Win10 version of LibreOffice, and recreated an exported PDF. The result on my Mac was a PDF with the same 'bad' hyperlink characteristics. I used Safari, Chrome, and Adobe Acrobat reader on my Mac, as requested, to open the 'failed' PDF, and in each case, the result was identical (hyperlinks not active). It therefore seems that the problem occurs consistently during the 'export as PDF' process under MacOSX. I have attached the subject PDF.
Changing OS, based on comment 2, comment 3, and comment 5. Using Windows, I can export the test document to PDF and both hyperlinks (mailto: and external URL) work as expected (in Adobe Reader).
