Description John van Someren 2022-01-30 06:56:34 UTC
Description:
Libre should be enhanced by using the Right Single Quote to indicate a missing syllable, typically found when typing reported speech.

People say ’phone or ’bout or ’bye or ’night or ’kay and the missing first syllable should be indicated by the Right Single Quote (alt code 0146) in the ISO Latin set. I can only speak for UK and US English.

If AutoCorrect is Replacing Single Quotes I suggest the software look back at the last typed character when a word is ended that has started with a Single Quote. If it is a (closing) single quote, do nothing. If it is not a closing single quote replace the word's initial left single quote by a right single quote.

Changing to invalid instead to not give a false impression of the importance of this due to duplicate count.
