M1 Macmini Mac OS 11.6.03 Libre Office 7.3.03 and previous 7 ..... Opening docx or .odt documents Cursor has the shakes Cant select (to delete text etc)
@Avrum : we need more information please. Are you using the aarch64 (M1-specific) build, or the x86-64 build (which works via Rosetta 2) ? What do you mean exactly by "cursor has the shakes" ? Does the cursor vibrate indiscriminately in one place, or does it jump around all over the place ? Does this behaviour occur with any file (Calc, Draw, Impress, etc), or just word processing documents ? Do you have any accessibility features enabled ? If so, which ones ?
No repro with LO 7.3.0.3 for Arm (aarch64) Build : 0f246aa12d0eee4a0f7adcefbf7c878fc2238db3 Threads CPU : 8; OS : Mac OSX 12.2 UI Render : Skia/Metal; VCL : osx Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); Language IHM : fr-FR Misc: Calc: threaded
Thanks for your response Build Model Name: Mac mini Model Identifier: Macmini9,1 Chip: Apple M1 Total Number of Cores: 8 (4 performance and 4 efficiency) Memory: 16 GB System Firmware Version: 7429.81.3 OS Loader Version: 6723.140.2 Serial Number (system): H2WFQ0WHQ6NY Hardware UUID: 84ADF1A2-7E23-5B2A-9986-2933DE478AB5 Provisioning UDID: 00008103-001A64C02ED9001E Activation Lock Status: Disabled Hopefully this has the build info. If not where is it? Cursor has the shakes - (the cursor jitters in one place but can be moved with the mouse or arrow keys). This occurs in text and Calc and possibly others No accessibility features enabled Not a problem with Open Office or Softmaker Free Office , Pages or WPS. I don’t use MS Office. Biggest problem is the inability to select text

The LO build info is available from the LibreOffice application menu, when it is running, go into the LibreOffice menu at the top of your screen, and choose "About". This will display a dialog, you can click on the Version Information icon to copy the information which is displayed below into the copy buffer, and then paste it with Cmd-V into the reply window of this bug in your browser.
@Avrum : Can you also let us know what you see in : LibreOffice > Preferences > View in particular which of the Skia options are activated / deactivated ? These are listed as tick boxes under "Graphics Output". Also try experimenting whether deactivating one, more or all of these options has any effect on your vibrating cursor.
Avrum: can you also let us know whether you've configured any particular behaviour for the mouse under Preferences > LibreOffice > View - Mouse and also whether you've activated the Direct Cursor option under: Prefereces > LibreOffice Writer > Formatting Aids

(In reply to Avrum Lapin from comment #8) > > Avrums Comment: > What about the inability to select text. I can live with a jitttery > cursor, I can't live with an inability to select Thanks for the feedback. My questions were an attempt to rule out possible LO configuration settings that might be the cause. The inability to select text and the jitters are probably related. The only other thing I can suggest is a possible conflict between LO and your mouse driver. What kind of mouse is it, how is it connected, and what speed have you set the OS system preferences of the mouse cursor to ?
Rec Comment 10 The Mouse is a Logitek M325 (a wireless model) Mouse settings are default (about mid range between slow and fast)
@Avrum : can you check whether your OS system preferences has any Logitec accessibility options that have been added when the driver was installed/recognized by macOS ? These might have been added under Security & Privacy > Privacy in one of the many possibilities offered there, but probably under Accessibility ? It might be worth checking to see if anything was added by Logitech to Data Entry, and Bluetooth. For example, I used to have a Wacom graphics tablet with wireless mouse, and I have entries for those apps in Accessibility and Data Entry. The reason I suggest this is from a reading of this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/dmot4b/logitech_bluetooth_mouse_lag_and_stutter_after/ where something similar (but not identical) was reported generally against macOS. Note that this may only provide a workaround. Unfortunately, LibreOffice is known not to play nicely with accessibility features on macOS.
Couldn't find anything that looked like a Logitech driver (may not know where they might be hiding) Disconnected Logitec mouse and used an old Dell wired mouse and the same problem exists. I think that you may need an M1 chip computer and Big Sur to replicate what I am seeing.
(In reply to Avrum Lapin from comment #13) > I think that you may need an M1 chip computer and Big Sur to replicate what > I am seeing. That's what I've got. I don't have the Logitech mouse though. Tried to reproduce on Macmini and MBPro, both with M1 processors. No repro for me, sorry.
Used the M325 and had similar problems on one Intel mac but not another, so this mouse issue is not limited to M1 macs. This could be a lot of things but I think it is more Logitech related than LibreOffice. On the problematic Intel mac I encountered the shaking mouse pointer, the SSD had been exchanged resulting in the odd (right to repair anybody) situation, that the mac refused to update its firmware. Being stuck on outdated firmware is a big no no. I assume your M1 mac is on the latest firmware? You can check this using Silent Knight by the fantastic Howard Oakley: https://eclecticlight.co/lockrattler-systhist/
Ref Comment 15, Tried Silent Knight, found some missing firmware, installed same, still have Jittery cursor Tried two other mice, an ONN (Walmart) wireless 18H a,d a Logitech wired M100 with no success. Incidentally I believe that all of these mice use built in Mac OS drivers since these doesn't seem to be any drivers to install
Thanks for reporting this issue. Could you please try with LibreOffice 7.3.1 from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ ?
Re comment 17 Just tried Libre Office 7.3.1 The problem remains
The problem no longer exists after upgrading to 13.2.1 No idea of what changed to cure the problem
worksforme as per OP comment https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147266#c20
