Description kevinpr 2022-02-14 12:24:48 UTC
Description:
Open a file in xls format, adding a multiply formula and saving causes file to corrupt

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the "step1.xls" file
2. Provide formula for S2: "=F2*1.2"
3. Down to S11 (Same formula with F3,4...)
4. Save as step2.xls
5. Open in MS Excel (Tested 2016 and LTSC)

Actual Results:
MS Excel says file is corrupt and formula changes to #N/A

Expected Results:
MS Excel opens file correctly.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
LibreOffice can open the file succesfully.
If I save as xlsx format, MS Excel can open the file without problems.

Same here. Save a XLS spreadsheet that has MID() function in field. Gets changed to #NA in EXCEL but loads fine in Libreoffice. XLSX saving works fine. Started doing this in 7.3.

I can not confirm with Version: 7.5.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 28daee8a3252e03a67484dc8d3dd26fd73af4826
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.13; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: cs-CZ (cs_CZ.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

and excel 2010. When I open your file step2.xls in excel2010, I get error message.

Seems to be fixed with dev version. Please could you test it with
dev version? You can download it here:

Thank you

7.3.4 Fixed this for me. I tried to create a new file using my same steps and had no problems in Excel. I then loaded an old .xls that had the problem and re-saved it as a new .xls and that file now had no problem loading in Excel.

Fixed for me too in 7.3.4.2
Old files (Saved with LOO <= 7.3.3) continue to be opening fine in LOO > 7.3.3, and if saved again, opens right in MSOffice
Thanks
