Description Eyal Rozenberg 2022-03-05 12:24:27 UTC
If I export a map fragment from OpenStreetMaps, say from this URL:

https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/32.3367/34.9163

using the SVG output format, the result displays correctly in an SVG viewer such as Geeqie, but when opened in LO Writer - I see black areas instead the pink area and others, in the image as rendered in the LO window.

I'm not sure what the exact issue is, so this may well be a dupe, but - OSM map fragment export is quite a common use-case as SVGs go. Also, I'm not sure I've chosen the right component; I saw this in LO Writer.

REPRODUCIBLE with Installation of Version: 7.3.0.3 (x64)
Build ID 0f246aa12d0eee4a0f7adcefbf7c878fc2238db3
CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19042; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win | Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: de-DE | Calc: threaded | ElementaryTheme | My normal User Profile

This problem affects areas with particular map "landuse" tags like orchard, military, prison, cemetery, probably others.

a) No obvious DUPs found with query <https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/buglist.cgi?cmdtype=dorem&remaction=run&namedcmd=DUPs147780&sharer_id=19321>.
b) I checked "orchard"and "cemetery" also on other maps, same result.

Rechecking with a recent nightly, if I open in Writer - the image doesn't render at all, I get a blank rectangle with a small icon for an image, generally, in the corner. If I open in Draw (which is not how I saw the bug manifest originally), there are no black areas and the cemetary looks fine; so does the military base in the SVG saved from the link in comment 0.

Is there something I can do to get the SVG to render in Writer?

SVG saved from the OpenStreetMap link

This file is what you get if you follow the link at the opening comment ( https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/32.3367/34.9163 ), press the export button, choose the SVG format and save.

Linux vs Windows

How it looks for me on Linux and on Windows. Why they are displayed different is because of cairo. See bug 164434

That's a different bug though, and IIANM, in Draw. This bug is about seeing black background for some "land use" areas, only.
