Description resherw 2022-03-24 08:23:17 UTC
Description:
Since upgrading to 7.2.6 all Writer and Calc are unusable due to menus not appearing and icons sometimes appearing or not.

To troubleshoot I have tried:
* Upgrading from 7.2.5 to 7.3.1 - with reboot
* Complete uninstall, reboot and then reinstall of 7.2.5
* Complete uninstall and role back to 7.2.4.1 same issue.
* Tried reseeting user profile, still stuffed.

Still the same result. Apps are unusable.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start any application
2. Move mouse across icons or menus
3. Try and guess what's actually supposed to be there
4. Open the View menu. All black with only a few icons showing
5. Open the Tools menu, click on last item (assuming this is settings), app is unresponsive for some time before settings show and then fonts are corrupted.

Actual Results:
See attached screen shots. Even if I try and select View Grid (on by default) no Grid is shown.

Expected Results:
A usable app with clearly viewable menus and icons.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

I unstalled everything and then reinstalled 7.3.1.3 and ran the app in Safe mode. Everything was back to normal. But if I run the app in Normal mode the UI is still stuffed.
Comment 6 resherw 2022-03-24 08:59:35 UTC
At the Safe mode dialog, if I Disable Hardware Acceleration, the apps return to their normal working UI so some issue there.

Hi resherw!
Do you use a dark mode by any chance? In Windows or LibreOffice?
Could you also please test with version 7.4?
Also, please copy and paste here the information from Help > About LibreOffice, so we can see what is currently used for graphics.

Thank you!
Comment 9 resherw 2022-11-14 01:34:16 UTC
Yes, I have both Windows and LibreOffice set to dark mode.

I'm currently running this version

Version: 7.4.2.3 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 382eef1f22670f7f4118c8c2dd222ec7ad009daf
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-AU (en_AU); UI: en-GB
Calc: threaded
Comment 10 resherw 2022-11-14 01:35:03 UTC
In this version, I do not have the issue as initially reported. All menu items and icons appear fine.
Comment 11 V Stuart Foote 2022-11-14 19:51:19 UTC
With the 7.2 branch EOL, will resolve this => WFM

But, see bug 151756 for an issue in Win10 in 'Dark' color mode where the accent colors affect background of the LibreOffice menus. Workaround with experimental features and no issue for master against a 7.5 release.
