Description Olivier Hallot 2022-03-28 12:35:25 UTC
Using Sections inside a Writer text document, it will be nice if one can drag and drop sections displayed in the Navigator to reorder sections in the document.

Example
Section A
Section B
Section C
Drag section A and drop apter section B
results
Section B
Section A
Section C

Plus, much nicer will be if one can drag a section and drop inside another section.
Example
Section A
Section B
Section C
Drag section A and drop inside section B
results
Section B
    Section A
Section C

IIRC, Drag&Drop works for Headings and File insertion on master documents

You can move chapters up/down with the Navigator. But sections are not consecutive and may belong to different topics. "Moving" it up/down would rather be exchanging, and I don't see the use case here. Furthermore it should be a more general solution, if done, and we also talk about tables, frames, and other objects.

Other opinions?

Sounds like fun to have.
Not sure about implications of dropping sections in other sections..
And also something to fiddle out: how to position in relation to other content, not being a section? There may be a lot of stuff in between B and C (the example). Where will B land in that area?

The opposite to usability... but anyway, let's keep the ticket alive if you see potential. I recommend to not implement features without clear use cases.

IMO WF; as mentioned, sections are not consecutive -> no meaningful reorder.

Resolving WF then
