Description Rike Carmack 2022-04-07 15:46:42 UTC
To recreate this bug:

From the beginning of the line, type two or more words, with a blank following the last word.

Select the words, making sure to include the following blank; then bold or italic the selection. (Bug does this for underline, too, and that allows you to see that the blank was not unformatted. Might impact other special formatting as well; haven't exhaustively enumerated this.)

Now select only the word, excluding the following blank, and turn off the bold or italic.

Now, from the beginning of the word, hold down CTRL+SHIFT and use the RIGHT ARROW key to get to the end of the line.

This turns on superscripting, and now if you overtype, you'll get superscripting.

Cool, except that I'm trying to replace the text I wrote, not create a verbal exponent.

Apparently, I do this often, because it has happened to me a lot, and I finally figured out what was happening today.

I would appreciate it if someone would fix it. At least I now know how this is happening!

Thanks.

Hi Rike
Thank you for the report.
I was not able to reproduce with the following:

Version: 7.2.6.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: b0ec3a565991f7569a5a7f5d24fed7f52653d754
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.13; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Can you please copy your version information from "Help > About LibreOffice" and paste it here?

Can you also please "Help > Restart in safe mode" to see if this is related to your user profile? I'm wondering if it could have something to do with customised shortcuts (the default shortcut for superscripts should be Ctrl + Shift + P).
