Description Chris Elliott 2022-04-10 16:32:19 UTC
Description:
When a document opens in Libre Office 7.2.6.2, the Navigator bar starts at the top left hand corner of the screen, where it obscures the menu bar. If it is manually relocated, and the document is exitied, it returns to this position when the document is returned to.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Libre Office. Open a document.
2.Move the Navigator windown
3.Open another document and return to the original document

Actual Results:
Navigator window appears at top left, obscuring menu bar.
Window is moved, another document is opened.
New document has Navigator window in same place.
Return to original document, Navigator windoe is back at top left hand corner of screen.

Expected Results:
Navigator window would appear in the position in which it was last moved to, on opening a document, and on returning to it.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Opened the Navigator window where it did not overlap and obstruct the menu bar. Retained the last position of the Navigator window.

1. Open Writer
2. Disable the sidebar
3. Enable Navigator
4. Position it floating somewhere at the right edge
5. Press New Writer document from the toolbar

--
6. Position the Navigator at the left border of the screen
7. Keep pressing new document -> Notice the window is walking to the right for every new instance..

Confirm

This is completely different from what OP wrote. The OP complaint is that Navigator uses the *default* position for every new edit window.

Wrong; 4.4. allowed to float Navigator (F5) the same way. Just as 3.3.

And overall: I can't repro the described problem (not saving Navigator's last position) in any version, including Version: 7.3.2.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community

This is likely specific to a Linux integration. Unfortunately, neither this, nor bug 148456 mention data from Help/About.

Yes, this looks indeed similar. However, this looks completely different compared to:

Are you confusing left and right in comment 1?

Same problem with form navigator (menu:Form>FOrm Navigator). Even if I dock that thing, it jumps back to the top--left corner when switching back to design mode. Very annoying when doing form layout.

I upgraded ver. 7.3.0.3 and the problem persists. This machine runs Ubunto 20.04. i have a machine that runs arch and the problem does not happen there.

Here is my full report. I have four machines.

#1- Ubuntu 20.04 libreoffice 7.3.0.3 -- navigator window pops back up to corner
#2- Ubuntu 20.04 libreoffice 7.1.4.2 -- navigator window stays where I put it
#3- Arch Linux libreoffice current -- navigator window stays where I put it
#4- Ubuntu 18.04 libreoffice 6.0.7.3 -- navigator window stays where I put it

I run Virtual Box in the Ubuntu 20.04 machine. I have an Ubuntu 22.04 virtual machine with libre office 7.3.2.2. The navigator window pops back up to the left hand corner every time.

This problem appears to be a bug in the later versions of libre office that shows up in Ubuntu but not in Arch.

repro in 7.2.6.2

1. Detach Navigator from document.
2. Switch focus to another document
3. Return to initial document
Result: Navigator has moved back to top left corner (as noted in OP)

Version: 7.2.6.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: b0ec3a565991f7569a5a7f5d24fed7f52653d754
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win

No repro (same procedure)

Version: 7.4.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: f8e11c6480ff0005715b989a6d4e2e10a3816cf6
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win

possible WFM? (note that comment 1 repro is an older version of 7.4.0.0)
Comment 13 richards 2022-04-25 14:09:46 UTC
I upgraded an Arch Linux virtual machine to Libreoffice 7.3.2.2 and now it pops the navigator window up to the top left hand corner.
Comment 14 richards 2022-04-25 15:57:07 UTC
I discovered something new. If I open the navigator window using F5, it pops back up to the left top corner every time. BUT!! If I open a navigator window using the right hand sidebar, that Navigator window stays where I put it.
