I'd like to ask for a feature for a user to define a letter sequence that is used in numbered lists. I'd like to create a document in Ukrainian, and apparently there's no way to number the list with Ukrainian letters (а, б, в…). There are Russian and Bulgarian letters available, but those are obviously different from what I need. There are state-wide requirements for official documents that regulate how lists must be numbered, and I couldn't find a way to implement that. Ukrainian alphabet is: абвгґдеєжзиіїйклмнопрстуфхцчшщьюя And what I want to use as a sequence is: абвгдежиклмнпрстуфхцшщюя (without Ґ, Є, З, І, Ї, Й, О, Ч, Ь as those can be confused with other letters or numbers).
I confirm it with Version: 7.4.0.0.alpha1 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: b871abad383583f02eb49c7e49aeae01f6941072 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB Calc: CL Ukrainian letters miss in bullets and numbering dialog (and in list style dialog)
I gave a try with https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/149768
Julien Nabet committed a patch related to this issue. It has been pushed to "master": https://git.libreoffice.org/core/commit/62b5dd31ffdad49f36aef2b7f6f1c54bcbf320ec tdf#148906: Ukrainian letters miss in bullets and numbering dialog It will be available in 7.6.0. The patch should be included in the daily builds available at https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours. More information about daily builds can be found at: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Testing_Daily_Builds Affected users are encouraged to test the fix and report feedback.
Don't hesitate to provide some feedback, I'm neither a Ukrainian native nor an expert in this part of LO code.
In May 2022, Olexander mentioned this on the LibreOffice subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/libreoffice/comments/ug0lpm/how_do_i_make_custom_numbering/ They also mentioned: - - - > I'd like to format the document according to ДСТУ 3008:2015 (state standard for documentation), which says Ґ, Є, З, І, Ї, Й, О, Ч, Ь shouldn't be used in numbering. - - - Here is the "ДСТУ 3008:2015" Ukrainian Wikipedia page: - https://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%94%D0%A1%D0%A2%D0%A3_3008:2015 which may have more detailed links.
(In reply to Tex2002ans from comment #5) > ... > > I'd like to format the document according to ДСТУ 3008:2015 (state standard for documentation), which says Ґ, Є, З, І, Ї, Й, О, Ч, Ь shouldn't be used in numbering. > ... So it would mean to have 2 entries for Ukrainian language, the "full" one + 3008:2015 standard one ?
I'm unsure. Maybe Olexander will respond with more details, since he's Ukrainian and: - knows the Ukrainian norms. - can read/understand those specifications. (A lot of those Wikipedia links are to PDFs, which are extremely hard to read/translate/follow as a non-Ukrainian.) But I believe ДСТУ 3008:2015 is: - the "official documents + state-wide requirements" he mentioned in the initial post. - the last alphabet sequence he listed (with the removed letters). According to Wikipedia, it looks like that document became enforced in July 2017, so unsure of Ukrainian numbering pre-2017.
No feedback for the moment=>unassign myself.
