Description Olexander Movchan 2022-05-03 02:46:29 UTC
I'd like to ask for a feature for a user to define a letter sequence that is used in numbered lists.

I'd like to create a document in Ukrainian, and apparently there's no way to number the list with Ukrainian letters (а, б, в…). There are Russian and Bulgarian letters available, but those are obviously different from what I need.

There are state-wide requirements for official documents that regulate how lists must be numbered, and I couldn't find a way to implement that.

Ukrainian alphabet is: абвгґдеєжзиіїйклмнопрстуфхцчшщьюя
And what I want to use as a sequence is: абвгдежиклмнпрстуфхцшщюя (without Ґ, Є, З, І, Ї, Й, О, Ч, Ь as those can be confused with other letters or numbers).

Don't hesitate to provide some feedback, I'm neither a Ukrainian native nor an expert in this part of LO code.

In May 2022, Olexander mentioned this on the LibreOffice subreddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/libreoffice/comments/ug0lpm/how_do_i_make_custom_numbering/

They also mentioned:

- - -

> I'd like to format the document according to ДСТУ 3008:2015 (state standard for documentation), which says Ґ, Є, З, І, Ї, Й, О, Ч, Ь shouldn't be used in numbering.

Here is the "ДСТУ 3008:2015" Ukrainian Wikipedia page:

which may have more detailed links.

So it would mean to have 2 entries for Ukrainian language, the "full" one + 3008:2015 standard one ?
Comment 7 Tex2002ans 2023-04-05 21:45:27 UTC
I'm unsure. Maybe Olexander will respond with more details, since he's Ukrainian and:

- knows the Ukrainian norms.
- can read/understand those specifications.

(A lot of those Wikipedia links are to PDFs, which are extremely hard to read/translate/follow as a non-Ukrainian.)

But I believe ДСТУ 3008:2015 is:

- the "official documents + state-wide requirements" he mentioned in the initial post.
- the last alphabet sequence he listed (with the removed letters).

According to Wikipedia, it looks like that document became enforced in July 2017, so unsure of Ukrainian numbering pre-2017.
