Description: After I type text that's (unfortunately) detected as a hyperlink, and edit that line later, all text after it becomes a hyperlink, whether space, column break, new line, page break. There' no way to end they hyperlink. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Write including a hyperlink, let it stay as detected. 2. Later edit starting at the end of the hyperlink. 3. Goes on forever. Actual Results: Hyperlink goes on forever. Expected Results: Let me type a plaintext character afterwards. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: Let you type a plaintext character afterwards, behaving more like a text editor than WYSIWYG webpage editor that even some of them would expect you to select text to be hyperlink, not assume it goes on forever.
"There's no way to end the hyperlink." There's no way to edit comments. I'm currently using libreoffice-7.3.2-x86_64-1_SBo but this bug existed years/decades.
Created attachment 179960 [details] Sample document I can't reproduce any problems ... @reporter Unfortunately important information is missing in the report: Please: - Contribute a document related step by step instruction containing every key press and every mouse click how to reproduce your problem (similar to example in Bug 43431) You can use attached sample document for explication like 0. open document 1. click left from "h" in "Hyperlink" » (caret flashes left from "h") 2. 1x arrowleft 3. ... 4. do ... » Expected Actual - Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show – if possible contribute an instruction how to create a sample document from the scratch (did you observe the problem also with an other database?) - add information -- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language) -- concerning your LibO localization (UI language, Locale setting) –- Libo settings that might be related to your problems (Experimental Features activated)? -- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document –- If you can contribute an old AOOo Issue that might be useful -- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts
Created attachment 179964 [details] example.odt Try adding any character/space/break after end of email link in this example.odt. Happens w/several Libre Office versions and operating systems (not necessarily only above horizontal line) when you write a link, then newline & more text, then save/exit, then later come back and add to end of line with link. I don't know how to use Draw and has nothing to do with databases. I didn't configure LibO and don't know know what AOOo is (in proper technical writing define acronyms before using.)
Created attachment 179965 [details] screenshot screenshot (space after email link should've ended link instead of being included)
I tried to reproduce: 1. open document "example.odt" » opens, caret flashes left form "lorem ipsum" in first text line 2. press key [End] » caret flashes right form email link 3. Type " xyz" (starts with 2 blanks, ...) » expected: to be ohnest: I havent a clue, maybe do not add newly typed string to hyperlink, but continue formatting? Actual: formatting "underline" will be continued, we will have to check this ❔ hyperlink: Click on "xyz" shows: no hyperlink 👍 So at least for me the Subject here is wrong, we have an "unexpected textview / text formatting issue. But not a hyperlink issue. Roo much frills in 'example.odt ', I will do tests concerning underline in different document.
Created attachment 179970 [details] sample document for test with email link @reporter: Please follow instructions in sample document, and tell us about your results I am pretty sure that your results will be the same like mine, so that we can close this one. If further tests show that there is a general formatting problem please file a new Bug for that issue.
There are no instructions in the sample document but my instuctions were NOT to write after the link.
There are no instructions in the sample document but my instuctions were NOT to write after the link until saving, exiting, reopening.
Doesn't happen w/your sample documents perhaps because didn't end line with link, but if you change it and doesn't, there's still a bug in some situations: important to find out when and fix it. It's NOT profile-/OS-dependent: I stated happens on various OS (*BSD Unix, GNU/Linux, Windows) and now I tried new/reset profiles and still happens.
(In reply to David Melik from comment #7) "Explication"!
(In reply to David Melik from comment #0) > After I type text that's (unfortunately) detected as a hyperlink You may turn off in AutoCorrect. (In reply to David Melik from comment #0) > and edit that line later, all text after it becomes a hyperlink No repro from scratch, after typing root@example.com hyperlink is stopped and you may edit normally. Repro only in attachment 179964 [details]. I see 2 links, root@example and .com, so somehow it was created strangely. How did you create it exactly? Unless you give exact steps that show bug, this cannot be confirmed.
I updated report title 'underline/hyperlink:' looks same to readers. Doesn't matter whether I wrote email address and link autocreated or now after selecting & editing to anonymize w/mistakes; format still is for a link and underlines happened both ways it was made. I can redo to be autocreated, re-upload if you want but same will happen.
David, please write exact steps how you created that file.
It's clear this never was entirely link bug, mainly underline but as result. If I remembered anything else relevant how I created, I'd have said. Though, it is possible/probable I created it in 1993 MS Word, resaved in Open Office (sxw,) resaved in LibreOffice. It started as my resume (anonymized now) and I was advised to take to university counsellor to evaluate/improve, exported to .doc. She added horizontal line in MS Word (don't know how) which you maybe noticed is undeletable... if I could replicate that anew I'd destroy & rewrite the resume (such lines being separate bug, which documentation seems missing after maybe LibreOffice 3.5.) I resaved .odt, deleted text after email hyperlink (when used to be proper autocreated URI,) at end typed comma but underlines kept appearing... I tested WWW links, same happened. I deleted everything after line and before email. I tried to replace/edit email to root@example.com, don't recall which buttons I pressed... that's about all I know. Of course, on later Windows, it was backdoor-accessible so became cursed and must be destroyed immediately--sorry! I tried creating a new file, typed emails & URLs which auto-hyperlink fine now, so don't really care about this particular bug unless can't delete that line, so probably time to close this bug, get to next ones. I just hope older Word documents people still read (not mine but original 'netbooks' made for free usage) and use, and might want to fork, won't get problems like this, but that (MS Office conversion) is a separate category...
