Ok but there are other indications in this page, eg fonts or Skia disabling, did you give a try too?
Comment 4 Timur 2022-05-15 14:42:41 UTC
Also, paste here Help-About.
Writer only as a problem for a new empty document is an unusual problem.
Or is it for certain document? Attach needed.
Comment 5 2sas 2022-05-17 07:53:02 UTC
1) Skia: I set ForceSkiaRaster to true as described. That did not fix the issue.

2) Fonts: As far as i know there were no additional fonts installed on the machine.

3) Certain document: No, it is not related to a certain document. It justs crashes silently even if i don't open a document.

Can you paste Help-About?
Did you try to turn off Skia in Options-View?
Please try daily master from https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86_64@tb77-TDF/current/, it installs separately to working LO.

Disabling Skia in Options -> View helped, Writer now doesn't crash for the time being.

Let's keep finger crossed. Thank you.

We can put WFM (Works For Me) but not FIXED since there's no patch.

Could you try https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Graphics-related_issues_.28_Skia_.29 ?
Comment 10 Timur 2022-05-17 12:51:49 UTC
New is for confirmed bugs. WFM is when bus is no more, not the case here, disabling Skia is just a workaround.

2sas, please attach <user profile>/cache/skia.log
Comment 11 2sas 2022-05-19 12:59:16 UTC
I checked <user profile>/cache/skia.log, but unfortunately there is no skia.log.
Comment 12 Timur 2022-05-19 13:26:00 UTC
Strange, mine is in C:\Users\timur\Application Data\LibreOffice\4\cache\
Maybe this bug should stay as Needinfo, so that message in 6 months reminds you to upgrade LO to see if this happens again, tested with Skia.
Comment 13 2sas 2022-05-19 15:44:20 UTC
After reactivating Skia in "Options" i was able to get the file skia.log.

Here is its content (only 2 lines):
RenderMethod: raster
Compiler: Clang

Can you please use https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/How_to_get_a_backtrace_with_WinDbg to provide a backtrace for the crash? If the only information about the problem is "it crashes" there's not much that can be done about it.
