FORMATTING I am a long term user of OpenOffice Writer. I downloaded LibreOffice to avoid some of the issues I experienced, mainly an inability to write a format free text. I therefore only used Open Office for notes -- all badly formatted as a consequence. So I tried LibreOffice Writer and encountered some of the same problems. I want an option clearly stated ("Turn off formatting") to enable me to control my own formatting SIMPLY. I do not want to hunt around in preferences and online help for how to achieve simplicity and eliminate automatic formatting of any kind. I will enable that when I want it. In OpenOffice I was faced with mysterious double lines which help was not helpful in eliminating. I see I can use Ctrl+M to remove formatting -- after searching for an hour. You have produced a nice product which I will occasionally use. But I still have to remove bad formatting from key documents before I can write a simple letter in Writer. The fancy stuff should come second -- to be used if and when I need it. I also note that LibreOffice crashes/hangs as frequently as OpenOffice on Win 10. Not good. I have to save manually frequently
Hi. This request cannot be confirmed like this. What you need is a simplicity, and that cannot be achieved with a button in a product that offers many features for advanced users. What you may do is simply type, without formatting, and if you receive some document, apply Ctrl+M to remove formatting as you found. This report may be closed as a duplicate of bug 106556 or broader bug 38194. Please confirm. As for "LibreOffice crashes/hangs" no value if not specific. If you can make repro steps, please report separately. Each time you report set Version and paste here Help-About. Best practice is to search other bugs before submitting. But if you dont feel like that, QA should do.
Or you prefer this as a duplicate of bug 53847?
