Description Tracy 2022-05-24 13:17:54 UTC
Description:
I am new to using LibreOffice, switching from Microsoft Office. I have been working on my first document in Writer. Closed the file when finished for the day and when came back to reopen file and continue working on it LibreOffice 7.3.3 is not opening (I get the blue circle very briefly and nothing opens). I have spent three days searching the web trying to find some articles of help. Have tried disconnecting wifi connection, checking for Windows updates (there had been a new Windows update installed the day before I first noticed this issue), tried opening other LO components (none will open), checked for Corrupt user profile, checked Graphics Related Issues (Skia), inserted UseSkia text string, inserted OpenGL and Closed GL text string, tried opening in safe-mode, looked for other reported bugs. None of this has worked!! I don't know what to do next. I will have to try and open my document in MS Word 2010 to keep on with my work. HELP!!! I prefer to be using LO though.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.refer 'Description' above
2.
3.

Actual Results:
not successful

Expected Results:
Nothing

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
I can't open LO to use Help.
I am not clear what to select at 'Hardware'....64-bit operating system, x64-based processor (is this what you need?)

delete your LibreOffice user profile found at

c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice

Then launch. If it crashes then let us know. If not, first thing open 'Tools' -> 'Options' dialog and on the 'View' panel check the box 'Force Skia software rendering'. OK out and restart LibreOffice. That removes Skia/Vulkan rendering as an issue (it can cause start up issues with the graphics testing it performs).

If deleting user profile clears it up, great. If not, will need a bit more effort--LibreOffice runs without issue on Windows 10, just not at the moment on your system.

I have deleted my LO user profile. LO is still not launching.

Check taskmanager, when soffice.bin or another soffice process is there. Also try to reinstall libreoffice. If do you have a antivirus, stop him.

Martin, I am not clear on what you are saying about taskmanager. How will soffice.bin or soffice be in taskmanager if LO won't open at all?
Also, are you suggesting that I disable my antivirus at the time I am reinstalling LO?

I have a lot of experience with antivirus. Sometimes the programs can destroy nicely :-)
About the task manager, it was only for 100% that the software don't really run. If it is so, I would start with the reinstall first and also with what Stuart said, delete the user profile.

Thank you Martin. I will try what you have suggested.

Disabling AntiVirus, then reinstalling LO was successful. Thank you for your help.
