I can't upload the entire DOCX, so here is one example.

Screenshot of the bookmark

Hi Justin, thanks for reporting this issue.

These brackets you are seeing are not printable characters. They're actually markings that show that this is the target of a bookmark.

To check this in the sample file you provided, open the Navigator (press F5) and go to the Bookmarks section. Now double-click the bookmark and you'll see that the section enclosed with brackets will be selected.

See attached image for more details.

To hide these markings, you can simply disable the option in View - Field Shadings.

Can you confirm that this fix your issue?

It does remove the bookmarks, but the issue is there should be no bookmarks. I didn't put them there and I doubt the author of the original DOCX did (they don't make sense).

Maybe the file had these hyperlinks but they were not visible. If you can share part of the original DOCX I can inspect it for you.

I'm confused, Rafael. I did upload part of the DOCX. Do you mean a part of the file that has not been saved in Writer?
Also, I confirmed with the author of the file that he had only one known bookmark.

Yes... I would like to check part of the original DOCX that has not been touched by Writer, so I can verify whether these links were there in the original DOCX file or if they were wrongly created by Writer.

Bookmark shown in MS Word

This screenshot shows the DOCX file you originally submitted (Atachment 180476) opened in MS Word. I downloaded it directly from your bug report and opened it in MS Word. Notice that the bookmark was already there.

So, if this DOCX file already had this bookmark before Writer opened it, then LO Writer simply imported it as it should.

I should note, however, that it was marked as a "hidden" bookmark (see the marked checkbox in my screenshot "Indicadores ocultos").

Before taking any further action, I would like to confirm if this DOCX you submitted had already been touched by Writer.

Indeed, there are bookmarks in the original file. All but one are 'hidden'. Neither me nor the author knew of such things. I don't know how they got there.

So, there is no bug, unless Writer should have kept them hidden.

My apologies for logging this bug.

Hi Justin, no problem.
