Description Jeff 2022-06-04 11:45:28 UTC
Description:
Hello,

When I drag images into Word, it places them one after the other.
With Libre Office, it superimposes them.

I read on the Open Office forum the answer:
Right click on the image then choose "Anchor = As character", so that the second imported image is not superimposed on the 1st. That's okay.

But how to avoid having to redo the manipulation at each image?
I read this tip on the Open Office forum:
Just change the Image frame style to the default template:
- open the default template (File>Templates>Manage)
- insert a picture
- set anchor to As character
- check that in the stylist, the Image frame style is selected
- in the stylist toolbar, click on the icon on the far right and select Update Style
- delete the image and save the model.
But it doesn't work with Libre Office...
When I add an image, the anchor of it is "To character" and not "As character".
Consequences: the images overlap themselves.

On Open Office, there exists an addon to do that but it doesn't work with Libre Office.

Regards.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Import 1 image
2.Import a second image
3.

Actual Results:
Images are overlapped

Expected Results:
Images are displayed one after the other

Reproducible: Always

In theory, it should work in LibreOffice, too; but if you want specifically to make the images insert anchored "as character" by default, there is a new way since version 7.1 [1] to set default anchor for newly added images per Tools ▸ Options ▸ LibreOffice Writer ▸ Formatting Aids; and since version 7.2 [2], frame styles include the anchor properties directly, which makes the workaround from the OOo forum redundant (in case when you want to use template approach, and not the setting mentioned above): just open the Image frame style, and select the needed anchor there, without insertion a temporary object.
