Description: I have been using LO for years now. I recently started using Snap apps in Kubuntu 22.04. I noticed my spell checker no longer works. If I click on TOOLS > SPELLING... in Writer and then click the down arrow on TEXT LANGUAGE, I can see dictionaries for other English locales, but nothing for the United States. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Mostly noticed in Writer. Open Writer. 2.In US English, type work purposely misspelled. 3.Nothing is spell checked. Actual Results: No reed lines under misspelled words. Expected Results: Red lines under misspelled words. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Snap app in Kubuntu 22.04.
Please report Snap issues to Ubuntu: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/
It is not an issue with Snap. It is an issue with LibreOffice not finding any US English dictionaries.

I confirm it by not having spell check for US English in LO. I did submit to the link you provided. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1978312

For example, currently our offline Help does not work with Snap-based LibreOffice and browsers. From your original description it sounded like the spell checker worked in a non-Snap package ("spell checker no longer works").
That's true. Everything worked fine before going to the Snap version of LO, but I am confused by something... Are you saying that LibreOffice doesn't make the Snap and submit it to the Snap Store? Or are you saying that Ubuntu takes LibreOffice and creates a Snap? Like I said, I am new to Snaps, but I was under the impression that the software maker made the Snap as the idea of Snaps, Flatpaks, and AppImages is to have software work on all distros easily and save the software makers from a lot of headaches.

LibreOffice/TDF does not create the Snap package. Ubuntu/Canonical creates it. Likewise, Flatpaks are created by Red Hat and Flatpak-specific issues are tracked in https://github.com/flathub/org.libreoffice.LibreOffice/issues It is normal to be confused as these packaging methods bring with them an additional level of complexity.
The way they have it worded makes one think the software maker packages their software as a Snap: https://snapcraft.io/about So I was thinking LibreOffice made the Snap of LibreOffice. Thanks for the clarification though I find it weird Ubuntu would make the Snap instead of LibreOffice.
