Created attachment 180872 [details] file to reproduce the problem Open attached presentation and resave it to pptx. Open original presentation and resaved presentation in PowerPoint. The presentations should look the same, but actually there are large differences. You see one error already when opening: The writing mode is not TB_RL as it should be.

I checked with online MS Office and the only difference is the Japanese text is bolder in the resaved file. > You see one error already when opening: The writing mode is not TB_RL as it > should be. How can I check this in MSO? At least the visual display is identical. Arch Linux 64-bit, X11 Version: 7.6.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 7195e2740eb1c71f5bbc4322b3535d56b39e2817 CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.1; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb) Locale: fi-FI (fi_FI.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Jumbo Built on 18 January 2023
I had made some fixes to writing mode last year. That seems to have fixed this issue too. I can no longer reproduce it with Version: 7.6.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: f1830bff71847a9c17715cff52383956719847fe CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded (In reply to Buovjaga from comment #1) > How can I check this in MSO? At least the visual display is identical. The visual display had been obviously different. When you see it being identical, the problem is fixed. In MSO select the shape, then tab "Shape Format". Open the "Format Shape" pane by clicking on the arrow in the right-bottom corner of the "Shape Styles" section. In the "Format Shape" pane select "Text Options". The field "Text direction" in section "Text Box" should show the text "Vertical". Microsoft Office does not show all writing mode related options in the default settings. If you have an European version of Windows, then you need to install an East Asian language for the keyboard layout in Windows. After that MS Office will show the controls for East Asian writing direction.
