You mean Draw? The shape deck's minimum is defined by the longest word, which is quite small. But all other decks are usually larger, except when you resize Styles to some unusable minimum. And switch then to Shapes. When you first open the shape sidebar of Impress Presentation, icons huddled together. The default width is too small, although users can resize the sidebar.
