Description: I created a document with custom dimensions (5.5" x 8.5", or half a US letter-sized sheet). Then I pasted in the text (with a couple of small images) for our church program. If I drag the scroll bar up and down, the program pauses and then disappears, usually on the very first scroll down. This also occurs if this document is opened, not only when the text is pasted. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open document 2. Scroll down using scroll bar. If it doesn't happen immediately, scroll up 3. Pause and then crash Actual Results: LibreOffice Writer crashes and the window vanishes. Expected Results: Scroll down the document Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: Version: 7.2.5.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 499f9727c189e6ef3471021d6132d4c694f357e5 CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: CL Bug does NOT appear when running LibreOffice in safe mode
Created attachment 181109 [details] File that causes LO Writer to crash when scrolling with scrollbar
Hi Graham, thanks for reporting the issue. I am unable to reproduce the bug using the following versions: Version: 7.2.5.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 499f9727c189e6ef3471021d6132d4c694f357e5 CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 5.13; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb) Locale: pt-BR (pt_BR.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Version: 7.3.3.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 30(Build:2) CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 5.13; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb) Locale: pt-BR (pt_BR.UTF-8); UI: en-US Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.3~rc2-0ubuntu0.21.10.1~lo1 Calc: threaded Version: 7.5.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community Build ID: d2dfc0c4286057f5d8dda178817de3503c3a7d29 CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 5.13; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb) Locale: pt-BR (pt_BR.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Scrolling up and down with the scrollbar works fine. Maybe you could give it a try with LO 7.3.4 https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/
Thank you for reporting the bug. it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.
Just created an account here because I have the same problem. Standard document (DIN A4), text only. Number of pages does not matter Amount of text does not matter Existing tables and/or graphics are irrelevant Writer crashes when scrolling. Sometimes immediately, sometimes only after some scrolling back and forth. When reopening the document without editing anything, it seems to take a little longer before it crashes. This problem existed for at least 4 previous versions. User Profile Reset: Yes OpenGL enabled: Yes System: WIN10pro 21H2 B 19044.1766 x64, AMD Ryzen 7 1700, 64gb RAM ECC, ADATA SX7000NP SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti -> DP -> BDM4037U 40" UHD Display
Version must correspond to the earliest one as indicated.
Graham: do you use any LO extensions? If yes could you disable them for a test? Also in addition to upgrade to 7.3.5, could you try https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Corrupted_user_profile ?
In bug 149527 it was determined that crash happens with Skia only and not in safe mode. Can you please confirm that there is no crash if Skia is turned off in Options-View, so that we mark this a duplicate? (You both say you did LO user profile reset/rename/delete, which is the first test you may make. Another one is to test with newer LO). I also don't reproduce, so if you don't respond, we can only close.
I tested on Windows and couldn't reproduce: Version: 7.2.7.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 8d71d29d553c0f7dcbfa38fbfda25ee34cce99a2 CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR); UI: en-US Calc: CL For the record, Michael in comment 4 had reported version 7.3.3.2 to be affected.
