The help screen in presentation mode says that the screen can be made black or white with B . W , (like in PowerPoint).

Nothing happens when pressing these keys during presentation.

I am using a Swiss German keyboard layout on a MacBook Air, macOS 12.4.

Hi, I tried to bump this to major, as it has gotten no attention in 6 months, seems easy to fix, and is an impairment while presenting. I would like to black out the screen to avoid distraction by slides during discussions with a button press. Then come back to the slide with a simple button press. This is promised by the help screen, but doesn't work.

I wasn't allowed to change the Importance for lack of permissions.

Can not confirm

Does it occur in 7.5?

Version: 7.5.1.2 (AARCH64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: fcbaee479e84c6cd81291587d2ee68cba099e129
CPU threads: 10; OS: Mac OS X 13.2.1; UI render: default; VCL: osx
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded
Comment 4 eisa01 2023-03-19 08:36:53 UTC
Forgot to set as NeedInfo

Please test in latest 7.5 and see if you still have the issue

Thank you for following up.

Yes, I just tested with

Version: 7.5.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: fcbaee479e84c6cd81291587d2ee68cba099e129
CPU threads: 8; OS: Mac OS X 13.2.1; UI render: default; VCL: osx
Locale: de-CH (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

The bug is still there. In addition, using number keys to jump to a slide number doesn't work, e.g. pressing 1 and then enter jumps to slide 11, 2 to 22.

I just found out, that it woks fine on my notebook without using the external screen. It doesn't work with extended Desktop (notebook+projector for example).

You are correct

The b and w shortcut keys don't work

If I however click on the screen that shows the presentation, and then try b or w it works

So somehow this doesn't work if the presenter view is active/focused
Comment 8 Wapa 2023-10-02 07:34:38 UTC
This is correct, the focus needs to be on the presentation screen, then it works. Unfortunately, when starting the presentation, the focus is not on the presentation screen (for some other reason probably).

Ideally, this would also work when the focus is on the speaker screen.

Or at least start with the focus on the presentation screen.

Dear Wapa,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
