Could you give a try at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps ?
Comment 3 Gene 2022-07-28 17:51:10 UTC
Julien:

My Windows 11 software and other drivers were installed recently (July 20th) as a "clean install" by the Dell Tech Support team.

To the best of my understanding, all of the drivers are the most current & latest for my machine.

I tried the version starting it in SAFE MODE but was unable to complete the creation of the new WRITER document.

The other items listed in your link do not seem applicable.

This appears to be a bug and requires a fix.

My efforts of upgrading to Version 7.3.5 (2) is my 4th effort of downloading the software, installing and attempting to use the version.

Every instance results in the same error.

Thank you for your feedback.
Since I don't have more questions so put it back to UNCONFIRMED.
Comment 5 Timur 2022-07-29 12:30:25 UTC
There are other similar reports and best was to search before reporting.

That link has Skia section.
If you can start LO, I understand you can, then turn off Skia in Options-View.
If not, make a shortcut to run LO with this:
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c "set SAL_DISABLESKIA=1 && START /D ^"C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program^" soffice.exe  --norestore"

Indeed. I wonder if it's a pb with Windows 11 or with Windows 11+Skia.
In the last case, perhaps for the moment we should disable Skia each time Windows 11 is used.
