Description Jimm wetherbee 2022-07-28 17:21:19 UTC
Description:
I just installed 7.3.4.2 and it crashes whenever I attempt to e-mail a mail merge. The wizard is able to find the items in the Excel spreadsheet. The e-mail wizard also sees the spreadsheet to fill in the address, but when I click on Send Documents the program hesitates for a moment while displaying a blank sending e-mail box and then crashes.

Actual Results:
The program crashes and I am asked to recover the document

Expected Results:
The messages get e-mailed.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
The previous version, 7.2.7, worked just fine.

1. Does User Profile Reset: Yes mean you really removed or renamed LO user profile?
2. Do you use 32-bit LO as you reported? Please paste here Help-About.
3. Can you please test with daily master from https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html? It will install separately and not takeover extensions.
Comment 2 Jimm wetherbee 2022-07-29 13:05:04 UTC
1. I used the last known good profile
2. Sorry, that was the 64 bit version
3. The daily build (LibreOfficeDev_7.5.0.0.alpha0_Win_x86-64) resolved the issue*
4. I've rolled back to 7.2.7.2 in production, which also allows me to e-mail mail merged documents

*I did not use my normal SMTP server (Gmail) because that requires an App Password. So I used a local SMTP server as an alternate. Even so, 7.3.4.2 in safe mode crashed when specifying this same alternate server, so I am counting the alpha build as a success.

What about this build?

Bug is relevant for daily master 7.5+. Since there's no bug there, I close.
It would be interesting to know for LO 7.4 as Roman asked, so if you can test,
please.
I asked if you did profile reset, that's this: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resolving_corruption_in_the_user_profile .
Best to rename LO profile folder so that LO creates it from scratch.

No issues with 7.4.0.0 in this regard either.

Hi Mike. Do you know why this would happen with 7.3, is there something not backported from MM?

Nothing that I can think of. IIRC, all relevant commits from bug 148338, bug 148382, and 148384 were backported to 7.3.3; the one that wasn't (https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/132565, because it changes strings) was just some UI improvement, and shouldn't prevent any crashes.

I don't recall working on MM recently other than in those bugs (I might forget).
