Description: single quote (') is not working in Find and Replace of LibreOffice CALC. If we try to replace cells having ' with BLANK , then the message "search text is not found" is received. This bug is still present in the latest version of LibreOffice also. Steps to Reproduce: 1. '123 2. '225 3. '427 Actual Results: FIND ' and REPLACE it with blank Result : "Search text is not found" This bug is present in the latest version also. Expected Results: '123 AIM :- To replace the leading ' with blanks and to find the SUM of them. '225 If we use "FIND and REPLACE" to clear ' the message is "SEARCH TEXT IS '427 NOT FOUND". Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: Definitely, this is a BUG , and is NOT corrected in the latest version also. If we check the data type of '123 in "Format" option in the cell that it contains, we can see it as a "Numeric Value" in the "TYPE" of the Cell. i.e., a non-numeric value in a numeric cell !!
Created attachment 181538 [details] SAMPLE (ODS file) File : SAMPLE.ods
The aim is to find the SUM of the numeric columns in the SAMPLE.ods file. A special character ' is prefixed in each number. "FIND and REPLACE" method is NOT working here to replace ' with "Blank".
The ' apostrophe is not part of the cell content and hence not found, but only displayed and added when editing. See FAQ https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/Calc/How_to_convert_number_text_to_numeric_data
